This year marks 50 years since Poul Due Jensen opened the first sheltered workshopin a private Danish company. Then, as now, it was an important part of our company DNA to help people in need of support. And will continue to be in the future.
"Believe in yourself; no matter who you are, you can contribute skills from which we all benefit as a community"
Poul Due Jensen
This statement by the founder, Poul Due Jensen, tells us why he was keen to see Grundfos as a companydoing its best to release the potential in people. The compassion he showed became the starting point for our long-standing tradition of social responsibility and resulted in him, in May 1968, being the first Danishindustry leader to establish a sheltered workshop in the company. An initiative which was the startof our now 50-year tradition of taking social responsibility around the world.
As society changed, and the need to act as a socially responsible company changed, Grundfos has takenmany initiatives to help both employees at risk of losing their place in the job market and people from thesurrounding society – not only in Denmark, but in many Grundfos companies around the world. What they all have in common is that they express the commitment given 50 years ago. This is as relevant today as it was backthen – and will continue to be in the future. We are proud to celebrate 50 years of involvement in this area.We will continue to be a socially responsible and inclusive company because it is important,it is right, and it is a part of our DNA.
